South Africa was gripped by fear and grief on September 15, 2026, when news broke that an eighth woman had been found dead in and around Kempton Park, Gauteng, adding to a string of deaths that had been building for months.
True crime content creator @carribloom took to TikTok to walk her followers through the known details of each victim, one by one, in a video that quickly drew an emotional response from South Africans.
Eight Victims, Multiple Sites
The first victim, a 37-year-old woman, was discovered on July 15, 2026 near the R21 in Kempton Park. She had been found stripped and bound with cable ties. A suspect was arrested two days later in connection with her death.
A report by Briefly.co.za indicated that the second victim, aged 32, turned up on August 24 near the same road, partially clothed and with visible bruising on her body.
A third body, whose age could not be established, was recovered in an advanced state of decomposition near Rhodesfield on September 10.
The fourth victim is the only one identified by name: Elizabeth Tsontso Moselakgomo, 38, found behind a hotel in Rhodesfield in sports clothing. Her face was unrecognizable, and her family used a remote control found with her body to confirm her identity, testing it on the gate of her home.
A fifth victim, believed to be in her 30s, was found on September 14 near Oliphantsfontein along the R21, with identification still pending.
A sixth woman, also reportedly in her 30s, was found strangled and stripped on the roadside in Springs, Gauteng, on the same day, with her body showing signs of decomposition.
The seventh victim, reportedly in her 20s, had been found on September 7 in a river in Clayville near Thembisa Mall, wearing only her underwear, but was only officially added to the investigation on September 15. The eighth victim was announced by the acting police minister that same day, also found in a river in Oliphantsfontein.
One Arrest Made, KSh 3.2 Million Reward Offered
Police confirmed that one suspect had been arrested in connection with the first victim, while authorities continued their search for another suspect.
An approximately KSh 3.2 million reward was offered for information leading to a successful arrest.
