Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has said the heated exchange between Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke over a penalty in their 6-0 win over Everton was “a shame” and “a sad situation”.
The trio bickered over who would take the spot kick, which Palmer eventually did to net his fourth of the game and put Chelsea 5-0 in front.
As Conor Gallagher gave the ball to Palmer, Madueke and Jackson tried to snatch it off the 21-year-old, resulting in ugly scenes at Stamford Bridge.
After the game, Pochettino told Sky Sports: “It’s a shame, it’s a shame.
“We cannot behave in this way. I told them that this is the last time that [I will] accept this type of behaviour.
“I made clear today to the fans and to everyone that Cole Palmer is the [penalty] taker.
“If Palmer wants to give the ball to another then he can, but not in this way.
“That is a really, really sad situation that happened, and I’m not going to accept that happening again.”
