Controversial comedian Eric Omondi has vowed to lead a procession of jobless youths, parents who lack school fees and other Kenyans struggling to eke a living to StateHouse.
Eric made the declaration hours after a Milimani Law Court judge released him and 17 others on a Ksh10,000 cash bail following his arrest during a protest on Parliament Road.
The comedian and a group of protestors stormed parliament on Tuesday, protesting the high cost of living.
In his latest antic, the funnyman has called on Kenyans without jobs to print their CVs and have them ready for the journey to StateHouse.
While dissociating himself from any political affiliation, Eric also asked Kenyans struggling to pay their rent to ask for official receipts from their landlords and have them ready for the procession.
“Calling on all Kenyans with CVs but without a JOB to print their CVS and have them ready, PARENTS without School fees to print fee structures, Families without Basic needs to write down a list of what they need, Anyone without rent ask your LANDLORD to give you a printed copy of your Areas. We will take all this to STATEHOUSE,” he posted.
Eric Omondi released on cash bail
Eric Omondi and 16 other content creators were released by Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina on a cash bail of Ksh10,000 each.
Omondi and his crew had been charged before Milimani Law Courts with demonstrating along Parliament road over the high cost of living.
Their lawyer Danstan Omari told the court that the accused are content creators and that intention of the alleged unlawful meeting was to push the government to tame the rising cost of living.
“All these persons are international content creators. They went to Parliament to get Parliament to deal with the current cost of living in the country. I urge the court to take the judicial notice that 6 million Kenyans are on the verge of fasting as per the government report, “the lawyer stated while seeking to have them released on bail.
