Portugal defender, Diogo Dalot has defended teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo after their Euro 2024 win over Czech on Tuesday.
Dalot said Ronaldo helped Portugal with and without the ball despite failing to score a goal against Czech Republic.
According to him, the 39-year-old put in an ‘energetic’ performance during the encounter.
He spoke as questions were raised over whether the veteran attacker would be a help or hindrance to his national team at Euro 2024.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was very focused, very physically fit and always ready to score goals,” Dalot told reporters after the game.
“I know everybody will always expect him to score goals. Sometimes he scores, a lot of times he scores! Today he was very close.
“Obviously, you can see in the game that he played how much he ran today. He helped us with and without the ball he was always moving, energetic and that’s the Cristiano that we want.”
DAILY POST reports that Francisco Conceicao’s late goal sealed a 3-1 win for Portugal over Czech.
