A farmer in Machakos County is counting losses after all seven of his cows were stolen on Monday night.

The incident occurred in Katine village, Tala, in Matungulu Sub-County.

JohnBosco Muema Nzioka, also known as Muthengi, said the heavy rains created conditions that allowed thieves to operate undetected.

The latest theft comes less than two weeks after farmers in Koma, Machakos County, lost several cows, some of which were later found slaughtered in nearby bushes.

The rising number of livestock thefts has heightened security concerns among farmers in the region.
