Three women have been charged in Kibera court with assaulting a Norwegian national in the Kilimani area of Nairobi County. Fihima Yusuf Abdillahi, Rayan Abukar Ali, and Hibo Mohamood Abdullahi were accused of jointly assaulting Maria Abdisalam Ali on July 25 at Lenox Apartments, causing her bodily harm.

The defendants appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Samson Temu, where they pleaded not guilty and requested lenient bond terms, asserting their innocence. They were granted bail of Sh10,000 each and are set to return to court on September 3.

The charges follow an investigation into a gang operating in Kilimani that reportedly targets women, assaulting them, taking secret photographs, and using them for body shaming and extortion.

Maria Abdisalam reported being assaulted by the suspects and two men, who also stole cash and a mobile phone from her. She had earlier submitted a complaint to the Inspector General of Police, stating that the gang had attempted to gang-rape her and had used pistols during the assault.

Abdisalam claimed that the gang also body-shamed her by recording videos and taking photos of her while she was naked, blackmailing her for money. She expressed frustration in a letter to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Mohammed Amin, alleging that Kilimani Police Station officers were reluctant to act against the suspects, who are known to her.

Abdisalam, who was on holiday in Kenya at the time, reported the crimes—including robbery with violence, attempted gang rape, and grievous bodily harm—at Kilimani Police Station, where the case was recorded under Occurrence Book (OB) number 02/26/07/2024. Her P3 form indicates she suffered sexual assault and other injuries.
