A former KBC actress has gone public with a heartbreaking plea, asking well-known philanthropist Geoffrey Mosiria to step in and help fund her son’s rehabilitation after years of battling substance abuse.

Faith Wanjiru, who says she acted in television programmes on KBC as far back as the 90s, filmed the emotional appeal outside her home in Kawangware, Nairobi.

Standing against a stone wall with neighbours looking on, she spoke directly to camera in a video shared by Dallas Media on TikTok, the raw footage quickly drawing thousands of views.

Faith’s son falls into addiction after university

Faith told viewers that her son had completed his university education, a milestone she had worked hard to make possible and one she had pinned her hopes on.

Somewhere along the way, however, he became entangled in drug and alcohol abuse, and she says he has not returned to the person she once knew.

“I have been walking everywhere trying to find a way to help this young man come back to who he was, but I have failed,” she said, repeating the phrase several times as emotion overtook her.

She went on to explain that she believes a rehabilitation facility could turn things around for her son, and that is the specific assistance she is calling on Mosiria to provide.

Beyond her son’s situation, Faith also disclosed that her own health has deteriorated significantly.

She said she is living with a hypertension-related illness that has made it difficult to walk long distances, let alone continue chasing solutions on her own.

She told viewers that despite still having talent from her years in the entertainment industry, she currently has no income and cannot afford to fund her son’s rehabilitation herself.

“I used to work on television programmes in 1992 on KBC. I still have talent, but I have nothing to start with,” she said.

Her willingness to speak publicly about the family’s hardship moved many viewers, who flooded the comments section with messages of support and calls for Mosiria to respond.
