Former The Real Househelps of Kawangware actor Onyi has appealed to musician and politician Jaguar for a job opportunity.
His plea came after Jaguar stepped in to support his alleged sister, singer Marya, as she recovers from a stroke.
How did Jaguar help Marya?
Marya, best known for her hit song Chokoza, suffered an ischemic stroke that left her partially paralysed on the left side of her body.
The health setback forced her to stop performing, leaving her unable to meet her medical bills and day-to-day expenses.
Jaguar revealed he had previously helped Marya quietly when she first fell ill, but assumed she had made a full recovery.
It was only after watching her perform at Colonel Mustafa’s 25-year music milestone concert that he realised she was still in a difficult situation.
Moved by what he saw, he visited her at home alongside his friend Mwenda and presented her with KSh 100,000 to cover her immediate needs.
Beyond the cash gift, Jaguar pledged to cover three months of her rent, provide monthly household shopping, and support her physiotherapy and home-based care.
He also floated the idea of bringing veteran Kenyan musicians together to form a support system for artistes facing emergencies.
What did Onyi tell Jaguar?
Following his sister’s update about Jaguar’s visit, Onyi took to social media to express his gratitude and make a direct, but measured, appeal to the musician.
“Jaguar, thanks. I have received the message from my dear sister, and I feel good about it. If you are willing and able to help, it is good to do so. What I would ask of you is that if a job opportunity comes up in the future, I would appreciate it if you considered me so that I do not remain idle. I have a family and many children who all depend on me,” Onyi said.
Rather than asking for money outright, Onyi said he needed a chance to earn a living and support his dependents, a stance that resonated with many who saw his message.
