Four suspects were on Sunday arrested during an operation in Nuno area, Garissa County.

According to a statement from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the four were arrested following intelligence reports from members of the public that they looked suspicious, prompting officers to take action.

The four Osman Yussuf Gure, 40, Ali Farah Dagane, 39, Ahmed Mohamed Gedi, 29 and Abdullahi Ali Omar, 38 were in a white Toyota probox when they were intercepted.

Police recovered four AK-47 assault rifles, over 540 rounds of ammunition, machetes, ballistic helmets, and military fatigues among other weapons from the suspects.

“Detectives are yet to establish the mission of the four suspects who were armed with the deadly arsenal,” read part of the statement.

The four are currently being held “at a highly guarded location” pending further action.
