The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has named the four counties that will experience power interruptions on October 1, 2023.
In a statement, the electricity provider said the blackout is as a result of normal maintenance.
Machakos County is top on the list with the service provider indicating parts of Athi River and Mlolongo will be affected.
In Athi River the power surge will last between 9am to 5pm.
Areas affected include; Great Wall 1 and 2, London Distillers, Sabaki Estate, Tuffoam, Sabaki Kijiji and adjacent customers.
In Mlolongo, the areas that will be affected include; Parts of Mlolongo Town, Athi 55 Godowns, Volvo, Signature Mall, KPLC offices, Quickmart and adjacent customers.
Nakuru County will also be affected by the scheduled power interruptions.
The specific areas that will not have electricity include; whole of Sobea, parts of Ngata Chinese, Upper Hill Solo, Verovian, Rosetto Flowers and Kenya Pipeline Soilo.
Others include; Royal Steel, Mega Paper, Nakuru Teachers, Carzan Shantara, African Blooms, ABM, Shalom, Gicheha Farm, Shayonam Polythene, Regogo, parts of Salgaa and adjacent customers.
Nyamira County was third in the list and the areas that will be affected by the power interruptions include; Matunwa Tea Factory, Gesima, Mochenwa, Riyabe, Nyagachi, Esani, Karantini, Nyamakoroto and Mosombeti.
Other areas include; Enchoro, Royal Media, Riamanoti, Matutu, Sekem and adjacent customers.
Fourth in the list was Homa Bay county and the specific areas that will be affected include; Parts of Mbita Town, ICIPE junction, Mbita High School, Milimani, Safari Village, Lake Treasure Koguna, Nyamanga Primary, Senator Otieno Kajwang Secondary School, African Tilapia, Victoria Sands and adjacent customers.
On Saturday, only parts of Nairobi; within Cabanas area were affected by the blackout.
Whenever there is a blackout most business people usually count losses especially those whose business fully rely on electricity.
