Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, also the deputy principal of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, has asserted transparency in the upcoming party grassroots elections.
Hosting party officials at his official residence in Karen on Wednesday night, Gachagua noted that they deliberated on holding credible elections noting “it is the only way to ascertain the strength of the ruling UDA, for years to come”.
Members present include party chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Secretary-General Cleophas Malala, Vice-Chairman Hassan Omar, Organising Secretary Vincent Musyoka Kawaya, Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, Executive Director Nicodemus Bore among other senior officials.
The election will run in four phases; 26 April, 22 June, 10 August, and 24 August.
KRA Board Chairperson Anthony Mwaura was appointed as Chairperson of the National Elections Board, and Veronica Kiberenge as Vice Chairperson.
Other appointed members include Lydia Munika, Jimmy Kaingi, Mary Mutinga, Halake Dida, and Linda Kiome.
Elections in Nyanza have been suspended following the tragic passing of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla.
