NAIROBI: The Cricket Kenya Board has appointed Dodda Ganesh as the new head coach of the men’s national team during a ceremony held at Sikh Union Grounds yesterday.

The 51-year-old from Bangalore joins the team as they prepare for two upcoming ICC events to be hosted in Kenya this September and October: the ICC Division Two Challenge League and the ICC Twenty20 Africa Qualifier.

Ganesh, who played for Karnataka Ranji and later served as its coach, led the team to victory in the Ranji Trophy four times during his tenure.

During his unveiling, the former Test player expressed his readiness for the challenge, stating, “I am a man of few words and believe in action, so I expect us to hit the ground running with the players.

We have only three weeks before the ICC League, which is very important. This is a golden opportunity for me and my staff, and we look forward to starting to build the game. I promise that nobody or nothing is bigger than the game.”

He added, “This is our family, and we will work together for the betterment of the game. I am surrounded by people who are passionate about cricket, and we need to restore the winning culture in Kenyan cricket.”
