A Grade 9 pupil has been found dead near a railway line in Echariria village, Gilgil, Nakuru County, hours after she went missing from her home.

The body of Grace Nyarua was discovered on Monday morning with visible physical injuries, prompting her family to demand a thorough investigation and swift justice.

According to her mother, Leah Muthoni, Grace disappeared at around 6:40pm on Sunday while preparing supper at their home.

Her father, Onesmus Karanja, rushed to the scene after hearing reports that a body had been found. He said he recognised his daughter’s clothing from a distance, before confirming her identity.

The discovery has left residents in shock, with witnesses describing the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death as disturbing.

The family has called for a comprehensive investigation to establish what happened to Grace and identify those responsible for her death.

They have also appealed to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to expedite efforts to track down and arrest the suspect or suspects.

Residents have raised concerns over insecurity in the area and called on the National Police Service to strengthen security measures and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
