A team of detectives seized marijuana worth Sh14,160,000 in the Ririba area of Migori County. The confiscation occurred when police officers from the Piny Oyie police station intercepted a suspicious vehicle on Kopanga Mubachi Road, suspected of transporting illegal drugs.

When the police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to flee, leading to a chase. During the pursuit, the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and ended up in a ditch. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and managed to escape arrest.

Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, detectives recovered suspected narcotic drugs weighing 472 kg, valued at Sh14,160,000. Additionally, they found a different number plate inside the vehicle. The motor vehicle has since been towed to the station for further investigation, and the recovered narcotics are being held as exhibits. Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
