Donald Trump has posted a new statement after he was injured in an attempted assassination at a rally on Saturday
“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united,” he says, adding that “we will fear not”
Former President Trump claimed he was shot in the ear, describing the sensation of a “bullet ripping through skin.”
The FBI has identified the gunman as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was fatally shot by the Secret Service. During a press conference, an FBI agent expressed surprise at how the attacker managed to open fire.
A witness told the BBC that he saw a man with a rifle crawling on a roof before gunfire erupted, and he attempted to alert the police. The US Congress Oversight Committee has summoned the Secret Service director, stating that the American public demands explanations. One attendee was killed at the rally, and two others sustained critical injuries.
