‎Veteran journalist Jeff Koinange served up one of the most talked-about moments on Kenyan television this week after a fiery exchange with Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Citizen TV’s JKLive.

The heated exchange left viewers thoroughly entertained as Jeff pressed Duale on his earlier warning about Ebola spreading to Kenya.

Why did Jeff confront Duale over Ebola?

‎Koinange wasted no time setting the tone, opening the interview by reminding Duale of a warning he says he had previously issued about Ebola spreading to Kenya.

‎”My guest today is the man I warned that Ebola was coming to Kenya, but he didn’t listen,” Jeff said.

“I warned you. I told you it was coming. We have two deaths in Kenya. Two people dead and dozens affected. What are your people doing?”

Duale then struck a more measured note, acknowledging that while he and Koinange share a certain camaraderie, the subject at hand was not one to be taken lightly.

“There are things we can joke about, you and I, but let’s treat Ebola with the seriousness it deserves as a public health threat. I will give you all the information, and the Director-General of Health has been doing so,” he said.

‎Just as Duale attempted to respond and get his point across, Koinange shut him down entirely, insisting they had to cut to a commercial break first.

‎”Wait, wait. You just wait,” the host told the CS, leaving Duale momentarily without a platform.

‎The clip spread quickly online, drawing a wave of amused and animated commentary from Kenyans.
