Media personality-turned-content creator Jeridah Andayi, who relocated to the US in 2024 with her family got more than she bargained for when her daughter Neema came home from school looking very different from how she had left.
Jeridah recently treated Neema to a fresh set of stick-on nails, a small luxury that clearly didn’t survive the school day. When the mother asked to see her daughter’s hands after she walked through the door, the nails were gone.
Why Neema ditched the nails
Neema did not beat around the bush explaining herself.
“I took them off,” she told her mum plainly.
A baffled Jeridah pressed her for a reason, and Neema’s answer was surprisingly practical for someone her age.
“Because they are not for me. I could barely do anything… one fell off and I decided to take all of them off,” she said.
Rather than pushing back or expressing disappointment, Jeridah took the moment in her stride.
“At least you have tried; now you know,” she told Neema, before welcoming her into the house.
A relatable parenting moment
The light-hearted exchange is the kind of parenting moment many mothers will find instantly familiar, a mix of mild shock, amusement, and quiet pride at a child who knows her own mind.
Neema’s reasoning, that the nails got in the way of her getting things done, shows a level of self-awareness that clearly did not go unnoticed by her mum. Jeridah’s calm and warm response turned what could have been a tense moment into a funny and touching one instead.
