President William Ruto’s former lawyer and current Court of Appeal judge Katwa Kigen is among five candidates shortlisted for the position of Supreme Court judge, with interviews scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2026 and Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which is seeking to fill the vacancy left by the death of Justice Mohamed Ibrahim in December last year, announced that the candidates’ applications were reviewed for completeness and conformity with the set requirements before the shortlist was compiled.

Former Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) Chairperson Anne Makori, Justice Katwa Kigen and Justice Joseph Sergon will be interviewed on Tuesday, while Justices Francis Tuiyott and Mohammed Warsame will appear before the panel on Wednesday.

Lilian Wanjiku Wachira, who was among the six applicants, did not make the shortlist. Members of the public have been invited to submit, in writing, any information of interest regarding the shortlisted candidates.
