The storms that shook her world

On the night of Saturday, June 13, social media users raised alarm over Baby Top’s online posts, with some fearing for her safety. She had publicly accused a former Cabinet Secretary of leaking her private phone number and location through his WhatsApp status, alleging that state agencies had helped track her details.

The presenter claimed that the exposure resulted in a flood of calls and messages from unknown individuals, and further alleged that certain state agencies were working in concert with Kuria to intimidate her over her political views.

She questioned the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) directly, asking why her location data would be shared with a civilian.

Adding to the pressure, the Media Council of Kenya issued a show-cause notice over a series of broadcasts that the council said contained offensive language, unverified political allegations, and breaches of professional standards.

Grief in the midst of the chaos

Woven into the chaos was personal heartbreak.

A friend’s child passed away after drowning in a swimming pool at her Runda residence. As listeners wondered about her absence from air, she was silently carrying a burden, mourning the loss.
