Kanze Dena Mararo, the spokesperson for the Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya, has put the public on notice over a growing problem of fake social media accounts linked to the Kenyatta family.

On Tuesday, October 27, Kanze shared an official statement warning members of the public against falling for accounts that claim to represent former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, or their children.

Is Ngina Kenyatta on social media?

According to the clarification, the Office of the 4th President operates just two authorised platforms.

On Facebook, the official page is under the account name “Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya” with the username @4thPresidentKE.

On X, formerly Twitter, the account name is “Office of the 4th President of Kenya,” also using the handle @4thPresidentKE.

The statement was unambiguous:

“The Office further wishes to clarify that H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, H.E. Margaret Kenyatta and their children do not operate any personal social media accounts.”

The public was urged to treat all other accounts, pages, or profiles claiming to speak on behalf of the former first family as unofficial and unreliable.

The announcement quickly attracted attention online, with many Kenyans weighing in with humour and scepticism.

Gilbert Roph quipped:

“Kenyans also request passwords for the above accounts for clarity.”

Lepa Chemaringo was not convinced, writing:

“Margaret Kenyatta friend requested me 2 years ago, and I accepted.”

Arnold Marube raised a pointed question:

“You mean Ngina Kenyatta does not have a personal account?”

Slay Slay kept it brief:

“Buy the blue tick to be verified.”

Michael Kivangu Mutemi offered a practical suggestion:

“You should have tagged the accounts in your post.”

The statement serves as a timely reminder for Kenyans to verify the sources of information they consume and share online, particularly when it concerns high-profile public figures.
