Senator Karen Nyamu got Kenyans talking after posting a video of herself dancing to a Nigerian song as she prepared to attend Charlene Ruto’s wedding in Mwanza, Tanzania.

In the clip, Nyamu is dressed in a sleeveless emerald-green floor-length gown, paired with white open-toed flat shoes.

She holds a perfume in one hand and a light-coloured clutch in the other, dancing with evident energy on a polished wooden floor in front of a large arched window framed by deep blue curtains.

Rather than play it straight, Nyamu leaned into the humour of the situation with her caption, poking fun at herself for running behind schedule.

“Nimu why are you late to school today, meanwhile her mom in the morning,” she wrote, adding laughing emojis before switching to Swahili to announce her arrival: “Mwanza mnipokee naja.”

The lighthearted post captured the attention of her followers, who quickly filled the comment section with compliments and playful banter.

The senator’s appearance and energy generated plenty of buzz online. Here is what some followers had to say:

@soyiscott:

“You are digitally cute.”

@k_ash_kay:

“You said I should look for money; then I should look for you?”

@mamadou32054:

“God was not in a hurry while creating you.”
