Nominated senator Karen Nyamu made sure Mashujaa Day 2026 was not going to pass without a memorable style moment, stepping out in a striking Kenyan national flag-inspired dress as she headed out for the celebrations.

A photo tagged to Nyamu on Instagram by Brenda Msechu, showing the outspoken politician posing at the foot of an aircraft’s stairs, quickly drew attention online, with many Kenyans weighing in on her patriotic outfit.

How Karen Nyamu dressed for Mashujaa Day

The senator wore a long, figure-hugging black dress featuring a bold vertical design in the colours of the Kenyan flag running down its centre.

The upper section of the dress incorporated the Kenyan shield motif in red and green, while a long stripe in red, white and green extended all the way to the hem. Ruffled sleeves in green, red and black added extra flair to the ensemble.

She kept the accessories simple but on-theme, pairing the dress with clean white sneakers and a beaded bracelet in Kenyan colours. Her hair was worn short and neatly styled.

Standing on the aircraft stairs with a relaxed smile and her hands folded gently in front of her, Nyamu projected both confidence and patriotic pride ahead of the national holiday.

The senator has built something of a reputation for creative, patriotic dressing during Kenya’s national celebrations, and this year’s Mashujaa Day look appears to be another addition to that record.

Mashujaa Day 2026 is being marked at Kipchoge Keino Stadium in Eldoret, with President William Ruto presiding over the national event honouring Kenya’s heroes and heroines.
