The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a temporary closure notice for a segment of Mombasa Road (A8), specifically the lanes heading towards Mombasa, near Lake Oil (Konza) Petrol Station.

According to KeNHA General Director Kungu Ndungu, the affected road section is located approximately 4km before Malili Town for motorists traveling towards Mombasa. The closure took effect from midnight on Saturday, June 15, 2024, and will remain in place until 6:00 am on Sunday, June 23, 2024.

“This is to allow for highway maintenance works at the section,” the authority said.
He said one lane will be closed while the other will remain in operation.

During the closure of the Nairobi bound lane, the authority advised that motorists heading to Nairobi would use the diversion, as the Mombasa bound operates normally.

“During the closure of the Mombasa bound lane, motorists heading to Mombasa will be diverted to the Nairobi bound lane through the section, while the Nairobi bound traffic continues to use the diversion,” KeNHA said.

KeNHA has advised all motorists to exercise caution when approaching the affected section of the road. They have further urged drivers to adhere to traffic signs and instructions provided by the police and traffic marshals stationed at the site. KeNHA emphasized their commitment to ensuring smooth connectivity and safe passage for economic prosperity.
