Kenya Power lists area to be affected by blackout on Saturday, May 9

Kenya Power has announced a planned power blackout that is expected to affect parts of Nyandarua and Kiambu counties on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

In a public notice issued on Friday, May 8, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled interruption is aimed at facilitating maintenance works on its power network.

“Good evening, Please be advised that there will be a scheduled power interruption tomorrow, Saturday, 09.05.2026, from 9.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M., as outlined in the attached notice,” Kenya Power stated.

In Nyandarua County, the blackout will affect Ndaragwa and Nyahururu areas from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm.

Areas set to experience the outage include Manguo, Maili Nne, Shauri, the whole of Ndaragwa Town, Shamata Town, Wiyumiririe Town, Uruko, Mutara Conservancy, Kiamariga, Ndogino, Olobolosat, Subuku, Ndaragwa Boys and Girls schools, Mutara Orchards, Nyahururu Town and nearby customers.

Meanwhile, in Kiambu County, parts of Thika Town in Section Nine will also be affected by a power interruption from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Areas and institutions expected to experience the blackout include Saint Peter Catholic Church, Thika Police Station, Administration Police Quarters, Eton Hotel, Section Nine, Thika Nursing Home, Christina Garden, Quickmart, Naivas, Khetia Supermarket, Chania Tourist, Thika Arcade, Safaricom offices, Thika Law Courts, Posta and surrounding customers.
