Kenya is set to benefit from  an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) project  being funded by the  European Union (EU) to the tune of €8 million (Sh1.1 billion).

The project targets 28 other African countries and will be concluded by the end of 2024. The plan comes at a time Kenya has been hailed for fast implementation of key strategies in the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) sector and thus is expected to register increased trade activities and attract high investments.

High Court Principal Secretary in the ministry John Tanui  yesterday said Kenya has experienced tremendous growth in the use of ICTs over the past few years, though a lot still needs to be done.

“The government has facilitated an enabling environment through various legal and regulatory frameworks to spur Kenya’s digital economy,” he said. Tanui spoke at a Nairobi hotel during a 3rd programme steering committee meeting for the Enhancement of Governance and Enabling Environment in the Information Communication and Technology (EGEE-ICT) sector programme.
