Kamwenji de Liverpudlian, a Kenyan man from the foothills of Mount Kenya, has celebrated achieving a long-held dream after making his way to Seattle, United States.

In a heartfelt social media post, Kamwenji reflected on the difficult journey, saying the experience tested him mentally, physically and emotionally before he finally reached his goal.

From Mount Kenya to Seattle

He shared his milestone alongside a message of gratitude to God, his family, friends, colleagues and instructors who supported him along the way.

For Kamwenji, the journey represents more than simply travelling from Kenya to the US. It is the fulfilment of a dream he had carried with him while back home in Kenya.

Sharing a photo from Seattle, he looked back at the distance he had travelled, from the foothills of Mount Kenya to his new destination.

The Kenyan said his achievement had been a long time coming, describing it as a dream that eventually became a goal and, finally, reality.

Tough journey

Kamwenji acknowledged that reaching the milestone had not been easy. According to him, the journey tested him on several fronts, with the experience taking a toll mentally, physically and emotionally.

However, he remained determined and continued working hard despite the challenges.

“After days of hard work and staying resilient, we finally did it!” he said, words that reflected the perseverance required to keep pursuing a goal even when the journey becomes difficult.

Kamwenji said he could not have achieved the milestone alone, expressing gratitude to the people who stood by him throughout the journey.

He particularly thanked his family, friends and colleagues for their support. He also acknowledged his instructors, saying they challenged him to maintain high standards while helping him grow.

The support, he noted, played an important role in helping him reach the point where he could finally celebrate his achievement.

Faith at the centre of his journey

Faith was also central to Kamwenji’s message. For him, the achievement was ultimately an opportunity to give thanks to God.

“From a dream, to a goal, to reality. All glory to the Almighty God!” he concluded.

His story captures the experience of many Kenyans who leave home in pursuit of opportunities and dreams abroad, often navigating uncertainty and demanding transitions before establishing themselves in new environments.

For Kamwenji, arriving in Seattle marked more than a change of location. It was a personal reminder that a dream nurtured could eventually become reality thousands of kilometres away.
