Kenyans mourn the mother of Governor Lusaka under the leadership of President Ruto.

On Sunday, October 6, 2024, President William Ruto led Kenyans in mourning the passing of Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka’s mother, Lay Canon Rhoda Namaemba. In a heartfelt message shared on his official social media accounts, President Ruto described Mama Rhoda as a hardworking, God-fearing, and focused woman.

“Our condolences to Governor Ken Lusaka for the loss of his beloved mother, Lay Canon Rhoda Namaemba. Mama Rhoda was hardworking, God-fearing, and focused. We celebrate the great life that she led and the many memories that she leaves behind. May it be a comfort to the family and the people of Bungoma that we are praying for them at this sad time. Rest in Peace, Mama Rhoda,” President Ruto wrote.

National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula also paid tribute to Mama Rhoda, praising her commitment to discipline, education, and faith. “My heartfelt condolences go out to my friend, Governor Lusaka, and the entire family on the passing of his mother, Mayi Rhoda Namuemba Lusaka. She was a remarkable woman whose dedication to discipline, education, and faith has left a lasting impact on many. May her legacy continue to inspire us all,” Wetang’ula shared on his X account.

Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa remembered Mama Rhoda as an extraordinary woman, noting the significant impact she had on those around her. “It is with great sorrow that I learned of the passing of Kukhu Rodah Lusaka. Kukhu Rodah was an extraordinary woman who profoundly impacted the lives of many with her warmth and wisdom. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you navigate through this period of mourning,” Barasa stated.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka also extended his condolences to the Lusaka family during this difficult time.

Our thoughts, prayers, and God’s grace are with your family during this grieving moment. Rest in Peace, Mayi Rhoda,” Wamboka stated.

Governor Lusaka personally announced the sad news on Sunday, October 6, 2024, via his official social media accounts. In his statement, he reflected on the significant role his mother had played in their family since the passing of their father in 1995.

“It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing on of my mother, Lay Canon Rhoda Namaemba Lusaka, this morning. My mum has been an icon and a great pillar in the family since the passing of our dad way back in 1995. She has kept her faith and remained strong in the ACK church. We remember her for her great role as an educator and a strong synod member in the ACK church. Amidst all this sadness, we appreciate and celebrate her life. I will give more details in due course,” Lusaka shared.
