The recruitment of the Kenya Forest Service Rangers began Wednesday morning across all the 47 counties.
The day-long exercise will see 1900 KFS rangers recruited into the agency tasked with protecting state forests, apprehending and prosecute violators of forest law and regulations among other roles.
KFS said that the recruitment of more Rangers will be crucial in the race to achieve a minimum 30 per cent forest cover nationally by 2032, which is part of President William Ruto’s administration climate action.
“Recruitment of additional 1900 Forest Rangers will contribute significantly to conservation and protection of forest resources and achievement of 30 % tree cover by 2032,’
KFS said several observers including members of the press, various Department of disciplined services and Clergy have been invited to oversee the exercise as a measure to enhance transparency of the exercise.
The conservation agency and maintained that bribery will be tolerated.
“The recruitment is free & fair. Individuals wanting to be recruited are advised NOT to give money to anyone promising them placement,’ KFS said.
To be recruited, KFS said that one only requires to be at the recruitment centre in their home county, in addition to meeting the requirements for the position.
