Residents of Ndumberi in Kiambu County were left shaken after a 46-year-old woman allegedly fatally stabbed her husband, 38-year-old Joseph Gatonye Mwangi, following a row over table-banking money.
According to neighbours, the dispute between the couple escalated into a deadly confrontation, with the woman allegedly plunging a knife into the left side of her husband’s chest.
Neighbour Teresian Ngonyo recalled what she witnessed on the night of the incident.
“She stabbed him once on the left side of the chest. These two live together as husband and wife, and I know them very well. Yesterday they came home from Kiambu in a TukTuk and entered their home. I went to the shop, and upon returning, the woman called me,” Ngonyo said.
Neighbour Was First to Respond
Ngonyo explained that the suspect asked her to help transport Mwangi to hospital, saying she had already pulled him outside the house.
“I could not touch him in the state I saw him, I called police officers to come and check the scene. The two have been fighting a lot of late and even called the man’s mother once to solve their disputes,” she added.
Another neighbour revealed that both the husband and wife had reportedly been drinking before the confrontation, suggesting the argument may have taken a different turn had they both been sober.
Police were called to the scene, and the matter is being handled by the relevant authorities.The suspect faces allegations of murder following the incident.
