Sean Andrew, the grandson of Kenya’s third president, the late Mwai Kibaki, has firmly shut down talk of a political future, insisting his ambitions lie far beyond the corridors of power.
The businessman, who has carved out a distinctive identity through modelling, content creation, real estate and healthcare, addressed the recurring question directly.
Why Sean Andrew won’t venture into politics
Speaking in an interview with media personality Alex Mwakideu, Sean said:
“I am a businessman. I think, generally, Kenyans can still help Kenyans without getting into politics. I just enjoy having my own time and supporting my own interests. I am more into wildlife conservation; I enjoy that more. We should not lose that. We should be the friendly Kenyans we normally are.”
Despite growing up in one of Kenya’s most recognisable political families, Sean has been consistent in distancing himself from any ambitions for public office.
He is a registered voter in Nairobi and has occasionally weighed in on national conversations, including once calling on leaders to resolve disagreements through dialogue, but he draws a clear line between civic participation and seeking elected positions.
His preference, he has said, is to support Kenyans through private initiatives and charity rather than through political structures.
Beyond his public commentary, Sean Andrew co-founded AfriCare, a Nairobi-based Applied Behaviour Analysis clinic that provides specialised support to children across several African countries.
He also works as a premium connector between property developers and high-end buyers in Nairobi’s real estate market, a passion he traces back to a childhood interest in architecture.
