A family in Kirinyaga is in shock after their 13-year-old daughter was raped, strangled to death, before her body was dumped in a coffee farm.
According to relatives, the Grade 7 pupil left the rest of the family within the compound at around 10am, and after a search she was found murdered some few meters away from the house.
Police said the pupil was sexually assaulted before being strangled to death, as indicated by a piece of cloth found around her neck, and then the body dragged from the scene.
Blood was also oozing from her ears and nose, while her underwear was missing.
Police have since taken the body to the Kirinyaga County Referral Hospital mortuary as they launched investigations into the incident.
