Two middle-aged women were on Wednesday arraigned in Court for allegedly drugging a man during a Mugithii Night Festival in Kisii, leading to his death.

The duo, Purity Kajuju and Caroline Kagwira appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Christine Ogweno over the death of Francis Kariuki.

The duo allegedly drugged Kariuki during the festival held at El Paraiso Resort, Kisii town.

The deceased was found unconscious in his house on July 23.

The investigation officer was granted custodial orders to detain suspects for 14 more days to allow proper investigation into the matter including toxicology tests.

According to the police, Kariuki’s two phones were missing after allegedly being drugged. One of the phone’s signal was located in Nairobi.

The suspects will be detained at Nyanchwa police station while the deceased’s body lies at Hema Hospital’s morgue in Kisii.
