Former Boston Marathon champion Wesley Korir and ex Starehe Member of Parliament Charles “Jaguar” Kanyi have been nominated for the position of Chief Admnistrative Secretary (CAS) in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, The Arts and Sports.
Korir who also served as an MP for Cherangany constituency between 2013-17 is expected to bring his wealth of experience at the ministry having also previously won the Los Angeles Marathon in 2009 and 2010, the first back-to-back winner there in eight years.
He is remembered for pressing the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (Nock) affiliate federations to reach out to investigators from the International Olympic Committee to help probe into the 2016 Rio Olympics fiasco.
“I recommend the affiliate federations for their brave decision. It is the right way to go especially because it will cost us less problems with the IOC.You cannot disband Nock then give Sports Kenya – a body that is not recognized by the IOC – the mandate to run its affairs.” he said.
Jaguar on his part served as Starehe legislator between 2017-22 and together with Korir,they will replace former holders of the position in the current West Pokot governor Simon Kachapin and youthful politician Zack Kinuthia.

The duo will team up with the current CS and former Budalangi Member of Parliament Ababu Namwamba alongside his PS cum ex Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke.
The two among the 50 names gazetted by Head of Public Service Felix Kosgei will be subjected to the National Assembly for approval
