There were exciting games in the FKF Premier League over the weekend. The biggest was the humiliation of AFC Leopards by Wazitos, while Bidco United continued their surge.
Saturday started at Ruaraka Stadium where league leaders Tusker FC had to settle for a goalless draw in their top-of-the-table clash against Nzoia Sugar at Ruaraka Stadium in Nairobi after losing 2-1 to Bandari.
The game was even in the first half, with Sony Sugar stronger on counterattacks. The only chance of note came from Joseph Mwangi, who headed home a cross from Yassin Sije.
However, Salim Babu’s side failed three times to clear the ball past the Tusker defense.
Brian Muyendo was a thorn in the side of Tusker defenders as he missed the best chance of the game in the first half.
Tusker’s Shami Mwinyi, Ibrahim Joshua and Deogratious Ojok tried to put the ball in the net but the Nzoia Sugar goalkeeper was not to be overcome in the goalmouth.
Tusker became more goal-minded in the second period, but the Sugar men again focused on defense. Ojok almost scored, but his shot was too weak and was blocked for a corner.
Mwinyi, who missed several scoring chances, could have put Tusker ahead in the 77th minute after a nice interplay with David Odoyo, but Humphrey Katasi in goal saved the day.
At the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Nairobi City Stars won 2-1 against Sofapaka to celebrate their first win of the season.
After Roday Manga put Sofapaka ahead in the 20th minute, Ezekiel Odera equalized five minutes later before Adrew Kisilu turned the tide in favor of Simba wa Nairobi to secure the important victory.
Although Nairobi City Stars are still second in the FKK Premier League with 5 points, they are four points clear of Mat are United who are bottom of the table.
At Muhoroni Stadium, AFC Leopards’ woes continued after a 2-1 win over Wazito FC.
Patrick Aussems’ side, who have just two wins to their name this season, went into the encounter on the back of a 4-1 defeat to Bidco United.
Victor Omune scored the opening goal for Ingwe in the 22nd minute when he controlled the ball with his feet and then hit the net.
Wazito restored the equalizer in the 36th minute through Clinton Okoth. They took the lead in the 50th minute when Collins Neto converted a penalty kick after a Leopards player touched the ball in the penalty area.
In the closing stages of the game, the visitors had a chance to draw level, but the Wazito goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny Omune’s shot.
Kakamega Homeboyz suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia. A late second half goal from Lyson Muyonga secured victory for the FKF Premier League record holders.

An eye-to-eye match between KCB and Kariobangi Sharks ensued with the bankers winning 2-1.
KCB took the lead in the 35th minute through a well-taken penalty by John Otieno, while Tyson Otieno equalized for the Sharks in the 67th minute.
The Bankers scored the winning goal in the closing stages of the game through Kevin Musamali to move Zedekiah Otieno’s side to third in the table with 18 points from nine games.
The round ended in Bukhungu with an impressive win for Bandari, who defeated hosts Vihiga Bullets 2-0.
Ugandan import William Wadri scored the equalizer just two minutes into the second half before second-half substitute Felix Oluoch added two minutes later.
