The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) is scheduled to unveil university and college placements for candidates who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) last year.

Board Chairman Cyrus Gituai assured that the available capacity in higher institutions surpasses the number of 2023 KCSE candidates, ensuring no student misses out due to capacity constraints.

Gitau emphasized that KUCCPS, mandated to place KCSE finalists based on merit and preferences while upholding fairness and equity, has a surplus of training capacity. The total available capacity declared by universities and colleges stands at 1,078,806, exceeding the number of 2023 KCSE candidates.

Over the years, KUCCPS has developed robust policies and internal controls to ensure transparency, efficiency, fairness, and equity in the placement process. The service disseminates information on available programs, costs, and government-prioritized study areas.

Additionally, it collects data related to placement, develops career programs, and advises the government on placement matters.

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu disclosed that 60.8% of candidates who scored university entry grades had applied for courses through KUCCPS by February 25, 2024. Out of 199,695 Kenyan citizens who obtained a mean grade of C+ and above in the 2023 KCSE Examination, 121,391 applied for various courses.
