Lydia Wanjiru warns women can also fall victim to ‘mchele’ at clubs

Content creator Lydia Wanjiru has warned that women can also become victims of “mchele” while at clubs.

Speaking about the issue on Friday, July 10, 2026, she said people should not believe that only men are targeted when drinks are allegedly spiked.

Lydia explained that she knows a woman who was affected after allegedly being given “mchele” at a popular club along Thika Road. She said the incident occurred last year and resulted in the loss of valuable items.

“Do not ever think that mchele babes, wanawekea wanaume pekee mchele. Wanawekea both men and women,” Lydia Wanjiru said.

She went on to share details of the incident involving the woman she knows. According to Lydia, the woman was allegedly druggedby another woman before losing her belongings.

“Someone close to me aliwekewa mchele last year; she is a lady na aliwekewa mchele by a lady kwa a very popular club along Thika Road. Aliwekea mchele akapoteza simu and 4 laptops. Luckily, we were able to recover them,” Lydia Wanjiru said.

Warning over the dangers of mchele

Lydia also said another friend had shared a similar experience involving someone they knew. She explained that the issue affects different people and should not be viewed as something that only happens to one group.

“A guy friend of mine told me that even one of his lady friends,aliwekewa mchele,” Lydia Wanjiru said.

She added that while trying to trace the missing laptops and phones, they spoke with officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI). Lydia said she was told the problem was more serious than many people realise.

“And you know one thing, mchele chaos, tuki track hizo laptops and phones of my ex-friend last year, the DCI were telling us that the number of people that have been found dead from kuwekewa mchele is so big,” Lydia Wanjiru said.

Lydia ended her remarks by urging people not to underestimate the danger of “mchele.” She said many people do not fully understand the risks involved and encouraged everyone to remain careful while out socialising.

“People don’t know how dangerous mchele is,” Lydia Wanjiru said.
