Police in Kericho have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly chopped off his wife’s ears on May 8.
Police said the man from Sigowet-Soin in Kericho County committed the heinous act over claims of disobedience and failure to follow instructions.
“The suspect escaped immediately after committing the crime,” police said in their report.
A scuffle ensued between the two, resulting in the suspect cutting off both of her ears, claiming she was disobedient.
Police said they have intensified the search for the suspect and will present him in court once he is arrested.
The incident shocked local residents, who noted that such a thing had never happened in their community.
The victim was taken to a local hospital where she is currently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, police in Singor, Nandi District have launched an investigation after a 59-year-old man was hacked to death in a domestic dispute with his relative.
William Kimalyo Mosop, a resident of Chosereb village, was allegedly killed by his relative following an argument.
“An argument broke out between the suspect and the deceased, during which the suspect picked up a panga and hacked the man on the head and right hand,” police said in their report.
The victim is said to have died on the spot after bleeding profusely.
The suspect also attacked the deceased’s wife, cutting her on the left hand and leg.
She was rushed to Nandi Hills Sub County Hospital for medical attention, while the body of the deceased was taken to the mortuary of the same facility for autopsy.
Police are searching for the suspect who fled after the attacks on Wednesday, May 8. They are yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
