A man in Ugenya, Siaya County on Sunday, February 12 surrendered to Ukwala Police Station after confessing to killing his wife.

The 39-year-old man, identified as Collins Oduor Onyango, told police he committed the offence at Ochieng B village in Ligega sub-location.

According to the area Chief, Johannes Odundo, the suspect is said to have had a domestic quarrel with his second wife, Caroline Akinyi Ochieng, following accusations of infidelity.

He said that the deceased, Caroline Akinyi, had reported to the suspect’s stepmother her concerns about her husband’s alleged infidelity.

The chief said the stepmother summoned the couple for arbitration, but after several hours of talks, the woman made up her mind that she could no longer stay in the marriage.

Chief Odundo said that the couple left for their home, but along the way, a quarrel ensued and the man reportedly hit Akinyi on the head.

The husband, on realizing that he had killed the wife, walked to Ligega Police Post where he reported the matter and led police to the scene where the body was lying.
