A 40-year-old construction worker lost his life after falling off the fourth floor of a building in Gigiri, Nairobi on April 22, 2023.

Police said the man, identified as Barrack Opiyo, died on the spot after landing on his head.

It was reported that the construction worker slid and fell from the building.

The 40-year-old had been travelled from Eldoret after he was hired to do ceiling works on the Gigiri building which is still under construction.

The body was taken to the mortuary pending probe.

Police said experts had been sent to the scene to investigate the incident.

Meanwhile, a man suspected of killing his former girlfriend inside a pizza shop in Kitengela, Kajiado county, now claims he committed the crime after learning that the woman was dating their boss.

Patrick Munyoki Kioko, being held by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), confessed to the police that he killed Gertrude Wayua Mutiso on Friday night, on suspicion that she was seeing one of their managers at Pizza Inn Kitengela, where they both worked.

Kioko told the detectives that Wayua, who he claims to have been in a relationship with since their days at Kimathi University in Nyeri, dumped him five months ago for being a stammer.

According to his statement to the police, Kioko reported that he felt overwhelmed by emotions after learning that the woman had moved on and was dating one of their bosses at the eatery.

“This is a woman l loved so much. I am even the one who deflowered her. After l learnt of her new relationship at our workplace it hurt me more,” he stated.

It has also emerged that Kioko had threatened Wayua several times before he finally stormed the shop on Friday and stabbed her five times as she served customers.
