The police are currently investigating the death of a man whose decomposing body was discovered in his house in the Utawala area of Nairobi.

John Mwangi Wanjiku, 44, was found in his bedroom on Monday, May 20, days after he was reported missing by his brother. His sibling became concerned when Mwangi did not respond to calls, prompting him to visit Mwangi’s house, which was locked. Upon breaking in, he discovered Mwangi’s decomposed body on the bed.

Upon inspection, police found Mwangi’s body lying on a mattress with blood emanating from the mouth and nose, with visible physical injuries to the head. The cause of these injuries and the circumstances surrounding Mwangi’s death are currently under investigation.

In Kenol, Murang’a, the body of an elderly woman named Hannah Ngure was found on a sofa set. Ngure, who earned a living by washing clothes, had been complaining of back pains. She resided in the house with her daughter. The body has been moved to the mortuary for autopsy and further investigation.

Meanwhile, in Mwea, Embu County, police officers shot and killed a man during a confrontation with a mob opposing operations against alcohol at the Kiandai shopping center.

The officers were patrolling the area when they encountered resistance, leading to one officer fatally shooting a middle-aged man. An AK-47 firearm with 22 rounds, involved in the shooting, has been secured as evidence. A team of detectives has been assigned to investigate the incident further.
