A man who went missing last Thursday after allegedly killing his 65-year-old father at Mukangu village in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, has been arrested.

George Muriithi Mutero, 35, was arrested on Wednesday in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County, according to Kirinyaga West Sub-county police commander Moses Koskei.

He was expected at Baricho police station on Thursday.

According to family members, the suspect stabbed his father with a kitchen knife over 10 times before he went missing.

Residents have pointed fingers at substance abuse.

“Muriithi had been using bhang and other hard drugs he cannot look at you for fear of overuse of bhang,” Paul Mugo said.

The police commander said the suspect will be arraigned after they conclude investigations.

The deceased is meanwhile set to be buried on Saturday.
