Police in Kirinyaga County have arrested a man from at Gichonjo village, who allegedly stabbed his wife to death over the sale of beans without consulting him.
Residents said that the duo had harvested the beans together and when the man reported home he started fighting the wife, killed her and later surrendered to Kianyaga police station.
The killing sparked a huge uproar among residents who were baying for his blood after the incident.
Area residents said that they found the body lying on the floor of the kitchen in a pool of blood a clear indication that she had been stabbed severally.
Police said that the suspect, 40, is under arrest as they commence investigations into what might have led to the murder.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kerugoya level 5 hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
