According to a police report filed at Runda Police Station, the incident took place on Sunday afternoon outside Yohanna Car Bazaar along Kiambu Road.
The police said that Ajmera Manishkumar, an Indian national, who was at the bazaar window-shopping for vehicles alongside his wife Rashni Manishkumaran and their daughter, was an easy target for the armed robbers.
As the family stood near the main gate by the roadside displays, they were suddenly cornered by the assailants.
Investigators state that three motorcycles—each carrying a rider and a pillion passenger—detached themselves from a larger convoy of motorbikes heading towards Kiambu.
In a matter of seconds, one of the riders pulled out what witnesses described as a pistol, pointing it directly at the terrified family. The remaining suspects proceeded to rob the victims of two premium mobile phones—a Samsung Galaxy S24 and a OnePlus 3—alongside a valuable haul of jewellery, including a gold necklace, a silver necklace, and two gold rings.
After the rapid assault, the six assailants blended back into the traffic, escaping at high speed toward the general direction of Kiambu Town.
Police officers from Runda command rushed to the scene shortly after the alert was raised by a witness, but the robbers were nowhere to be seen.
Fortunately, no one was physically injured during the terrifying ordeal.
In a span of just 48 hours, three daring robberies have rocked the Westlands and Gigiri sub-counties, showing an alarming pattern of operation.
They include five masked men at a restaurant in Parklands, four young riders targeting a German media executive in Spring Valley, and the six on Kiambu Road.
In each case, the attackers operated in pairs on multiple motorcycles, struck targets in broad daylight or early evening, and relied on the speed of two-wheelers to vanish into traffic before police could arrive.
The systematic armed robberies point to a worrying trend where an armed syndicate could be on the loose targeting Nairobians, amid concerns of rising insecurity in the city.
