Shock and grief engulfed the outskirts of Kericho town after the decomposing body of a middle-aged man was discovered hanging from a tree in a thicket near Kisumu road junction along Kericho-Kisumu Highway.

According to junior police officers attached to Nyagacho police station, the man is suspected to have hanged himself on the tree.

The officer however said post mortem would be conducted on the body so as to establish the exact cause of his death.

He said the body was discovered by members of the public and touts who normally conduct business at the junction after a strong stench emanated from the thicket.

They were shocked after discovering the body hanging from the top of a tree with a rope tied around the man’s neck.

Members of the public jammed the scene after hearing of the news but none of them were able to identify the body.

The incident was reported at Kericho police station where police officers rushed to the scene, removed the body and took it to Kericho County Referral Hospital mortuary.
