A village in Marakwet West came to a standstill on Friday, September 11, 2026, as three members of the same family were laid to rest following a fatal road accident that cut short what should have been a day of celebration.
The three victims, whose names have not been publicly released, allegedly perished in a crash at Twin Bridge along the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway.
They were part of a group travelling home from an Administration Police graduation ceremony, a milestone that had brought the family together in pride and joy before tragedy intervened.
The burial took place at Kipsero Village in Kapcherop, Marakwet West, drawing mourners from across the region.
Where were three family members buried?
Relatives, neighbours, friends, clergy and leaders from Marakwet West assembled both at the family home and at Kipsero Primary School field to stand with the bereaved and give the three a dignified send-off.
The sight of three caskets belonging to one family left few dry eyes in attendance.
Gen Edwin Kering, who shared news of the burials on Facebook, captured the weight of the moment.
Day of celebration turned into unbearable pain
“What was supposed to be a day of celebration and pride for the family has turned into unbearable pain and tears,” he wrote, calling on motorists using the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway to exercise extra caution, particularly at Twin Bridge.
The stretch of road at Twin Bridge has long been considered one of the more dangerous sections of the Eldoret–Nakuru Highway, a route that sees heavy long-distance and commercial traffic.
The accident that claimed three lives from a single family has renewed calls for greater care from drivers navigating the corridor.
