Veteran politician Martha Karua has joined the K arume family in grief following the passing of Henry Waireri Karume, son of the late business tycoon Njenga Karume.
Karua shared the condolence message on Facebook on Tuesday, October 13, expressing sorrow over the loss and describing Henry as a pillar within the Karume household.
How did Martha Karua mourn Karume’s son?
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Karume family on the passing of Henry Waireri Karume, son of my friend, the late Njenga Karume,” Karua wrote.
In her tribute, Karua painted a picture of a man who carried significant responsibility within the family. She noted that Henry was not merely a son and brother, but someone who took it upon himself to protect and advance what his father had worked to build.
“In Henry, the family has lost not only a beloved son and brother but also a trusted custodian of their shared legacy, who played an important role in looking after the family’s interests and carrying forward what his late father had built,” she said.
The late Njenga Karume was one of Kenya’s most celebrated self-made businessmen and politicians, having risen from humble beginnings to become a towering figure in both commerce and public life.
His passing left a significant legacy for his family to uphold, a responsibility that Henry was evidently central to. Closing her tribute, Karua directed her thoughts and prayers to everyone touched by Henry’s death, urging the family to draw comfort from the memories they shared with him.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family, his friends, and all who knew him. May they find comfort in the memories they shared with him and strength in one another during this difficult time. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” she wrote.
Karua’s message underscored the personal connection she shared with the Karume family, having described the late Njenga Karume as a friend.
