Former Kenyan international Boniface Ambani says the new Police FC goalkeeper Patrick Matasi will play a crucial role in the team’s ambition to win the Kenyan premier league title this season.
Ambani lauded Matasi’s experience both locally and internationally insisting that it will bring the best out of other goalkeepers and solidify the team’s defence.
“The is a very good goalkeeper with a lot of experience he will be very useful to them and make will make the other keepers better by sharing his experience with them, “ said Ambani.
Having won the league with Tusker FC last season, Matasi, a long-term target for Police joined the team in the ongoing transfer window and will also serve in the National Police Service while playing for the team, a move the former AFC Leopards striker says has secured his future.
“It is always good to look at the future after football him agreeing to serve in the national police service he has secured his future in a good way,” added Ambani.
Despite having top strikers like Duke Abuya, Elvis Rupia and Clifford Miheso, Police also signed 2021/2022 league top scorer Derrick Otanga to add firepower and the former Kenyan International has warned the money bags against overspending on every player adding that they risk putting a lot of pressure on themselves if they fail to deliver the title at the end of the season.
“They have the best players in the league that comes with a lot of pressure they need to win something if they don’t win a trophy there will be many questions about the project,” the former Tusker FC said.
Police are currently fourth in the league standings with 35 points from 19 games.
