Police in Rongo Migori County have launched investigations into the death of a businesswoman aged 42 years who was murdered in her house at Chamgiwadu trading centre.

The body of Elizabeth Anyango was found lying in a pool of blood inside the bed by the relatives who had gone to check on her.

South West location Chief Maurice Ayieko said the body of the deceased had stabbed wounds around the neck, an indication that she was murdered.

Ayieko said the people involved in the murder are yet to be identified, adding that investigations are underway.

The area chief has appealed for calmness among the residents of Chamgiwadu as the police get into the bottom of the murder incident.

The residents of Chamgiwadu want the government to expeditiously investigate the matter and action taken to the people involved in the killing of the businesswoman.

Okoth Njoga said they are now living in extreme fear following the killing and therefore the security officers must move with speed to bring the culprits to book.

The residents of Chamguwadu have also called for heightened night patrols at the market centre.
