Mike Sonko’s daughter Sandra Mbuvi has made a bold political declaration, announcing her plans to contest the Member of County Assembly seat for Karura Ward in Westlands during the 2027 General Election.
Sandra, who is currently studying in the United Kingdom, shared the announcement on Saturday, September 26, revealing she will fly the flag of her father’s National Economic Development Party (NEDP) in the race.

“I am officially announcing my intention to run for MCA, Karura Ward, Westlands, in the 2027 General Election, under the National Economic Development Party (NEDP),” she wrote in her announcement.
The aspiring ward representative revealed that Karura was not her original target.
She had previously been considering Kitusuru Ward before making the switch, saying she now intends to engage directly with Karura residents to understand the issues on the ground.
“Having previously considered Kitusuru Ward, I have now shifted my focus to Karura Ward, where I look forward to engaging with residents, listening to their priorities and understanding the issues affecting our communities,” she said.
Sandra outlined a broad agenda for her prospective constituents, centred on women’s empowerment, youth opportunities, education, healthcare, accountability and inclusive community development. She described her philosophy as one rooted in listening and service.
“I believe leadership begins with listening, serving and being accountable to the people. This is the beginning of a new journey, and I look forward to connecting with the people of Karura Ward,” she added.
