Politician and businessman Morara Kebaso is looking for skilled hands to join his furniture enterprise, and the application process is refreshingly straightforward.
On Wednesday, October 28, Kebaso took to social media to announce that Morara Home Furniture was actively recruiting carpenters, tailors, upholsterers and frame builders.
To show the standard of craft he expects from recruits, he showed a sofa to highlight the quality of stitching his company prides itself on.
“If you are a carpenter and you would like to work with Morara Home Furniture, you are welcome. We are offering an opportunity to all carpenters who do a great job, like us. If you look at our stitching, we do perfect stitching,” he said, while showing an example on a sofa.
How to apply for the Morara Home Furniture jobs
Rather than asking for a formal application, Kebaso kept things practical. Prospective hires are asked to skip the paperwork and send images of their previous work directly to the company.
“We do not want CVs; send us pictures of your work. If you have any other skill you suspect we might need, send images of your skill. We are trying to build a big team to increase numbers and handle all our orders,” he explained.
The pay structure is equally straightforward: workers are compensated each week based on the amount they produce, not a fixed monthly salary.
“We pay every week depending on the amount of work you do. If you make ten seats, we pay for that; if you make one, we pay for that,” Kebaso added.
The announcement drew plenty of engagement online, with many Kenyans praising the weekly, output-based payment model as much as the job offer itself.

“Congrats on paying your workers weekly based on productivity 👏 I don’t understand why someone waits 30 days to be paid.”
@anto_kim_kim added:
“I’m not interested in the job offer, but I must salute your work policy. Payment based on output.”
Not everyone was convinced the opportunity was worth pursuing for skilled artisans, however.

“If you can do such a good job, just open your business.”
